CURATOR

Curator of the Richmond Marine Fossil Museum is Sydney born Troy Myers. He took up his position with the museum in 2001. Troy and wife Mary both live in Richmond where they enjoy a variety of sports and their academic pursuits.

Qualifications

Troy  has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in geology and zoology, Graduate Diploma of Science and a PhD (pending) submitted in vertebrate palaeontology.

Experience

Troy worked for two years as curator of the Riversleigh Marine Fossil Museum west of Mt Isa. He also has worked on the "Australia's Lost Kingdom" exhibition at the Australian Museum in Sydney, carried out various palaeontologic consultancies and tutored at universities on paleo-mammalogy.

Duties at the Museum

Troy's duties encompass:
* management of the fossil collection
* improving the collection
* excavating for fossils
* preparation of fossils at the laboratory
* research
* interpretation
* creation of displays
* supervision of students
* running tours of the museum and fossicking sites
